Biography
Lewis is an Advisor on Risk and Strategy. He is a founding member of Arboreal Risk Advisors. His areas of expertise include Risk Strategy, Risk Culture, ESG Risks, Scenario Planning and Resilience, Models and approaches to Capital planning.
Lewis is a Non-Executive Director of HSBC Bank plc. Previously, Lewis was the Chief Risk Officer of Nomura Holdings between 2011 and 2019. Prior to this he was the Senior Risk Officer at Morgan Stanley, after a career spanning trading, risk management and firm management. He has been a board member for many of the major subsidiaries of both firms. In his career he has traded and managed desks, positions and his firms through major financial crises, managed work-out assets, navigated changing capital regimes, terrorist events and operational events.
Lewis holds a D. Phil. in mathematics from Oxford University, an MA in mathematics from Cambridge University and a B.Sc. in mathematics and physics from Bristol University. He is a trustee of GARP.
